About the Detroit Research Institute

The Detroit  Research  Institute is an educational and training organization for serving the continuing development needs of industrial and business personnel.  The Institute was organized in 1958 by Dr. Arvid W. Jacobson, Chairman of Mathematics Department and Director of the Computing Laboratories, WSU.  The Institute in the past offered short courses and seminars in various disciplines such as system engineering, mathematical models in biomedical field, computers, management, banking automation, reliability statistics, and as well as other educational activities calculated to promote industrial progress.  These seminars have been offered with consistent success for more than 40 years, especially the Product Reliability courses, participants have come from major industries across the country and abroad.  A partial list of companies and government agencies who have participated in our educational programs is shown below:

The Detroit Research Institute has built up a reputation for training engineers and industrial professionals in the techniques of Weibull Analysis of test data, sample size determination, "Sudden Death" testing, mixture analysis, Comparison testing, sequential analysis, reliability and confidence growth questions, test time reduction, compliance testing to government standards, and problems of product reliability and consumer product requirements in general.  We have the experience and capability to effectively help your company to cope with these questions and problems of product quality, reliability, and compliance.
